dEQ6V4 is a 6+2 band stereo and mid/side dynamic equalizer from TBProAudio, with compressor and expander controls on each band.

It has up to 4x oversampling, a 32k FFT analyzer and spectrograph, for €59 (about $67).

What it does

dEQ6V4 is TBProAudio's "6+2 band stereo/MS dynamic equalizer." Each band pairs a filter with its own compressor or expander, which moves the filter's gain up or down as the signal crosses a threshold, so a cut or boost only happens when the problem frequency appears.

Bands: 6+2 independent filter and compressor/expander units, using five analogue-style filter types with minimal phase and zero delay.
Detector: each band's detector can listen narrow-band (only the band's range) or full-band, and to the internal signal or an external sidechain.
Per-band channels: every band can work on stereo, left, right, mid or side, so you can treat the centre and sides differently in one instance.
Quality: 64-bit internal processing, real oversampling up to 4x, and sample rates up to 192 kHz.
Analyzer: a 32k FFT spectrum showing pre- or post-EQ, max, average or live, on stereo, left, right, mid or side, plus a spectrograph and a frequency tracker.
Meters and matching: input and output meters with Peak, RMS, EBU and VU scales, and perceptual loudness matching powered by AB-LM Lite.
Workflow: sample-exact A/B toggle, undo and redo, full automation, and free GUI scaling and resizing.

The current version is 4.4.5 (May 2026). The demo mutes audio every 90 seconds.

When to use it

dEQ6V4 is the better pick when you want a dedicated, technical dynamic EQ with mid/side on every band, expansion as well as compression, and detailed metering, at a lower price than most rivals. It is closest in concept to Waves F6, but adds per-band mid/side and a loudness-matched A/B built in. Compared with Pro-Q 4 it has fewer bands and a plainer, more "scientific" interface, though it costs much less. TDR Nova offers a similar dynamic-band idea for free, but dEQ6V4 has more bands, external sidechain per band and a larger analyzer. Unlike soothe3, it does not hunt for resonances on its own: you set each band yourself.

Best for: taming boomy or harsh frequencies only when they appear, de-essing-style band control on vocals, and mid/side dynamic EQ on buses and masters.
Genres: any; it is a general mixing and mastering tool.
Look elsewhere if: you want automatic resonance suppression (soothe3, or TBProAudio's own DSEQ3), a slicker interface with more bands (Pro-Q 4), or a free option (TDR Nova).
Tip: Ask.Audio suggests freezing the spectrum display to study a passage, then dragging filter points directly with the mouse.

Reviewers see it as a serious, efficient dynamic EQ that favours precision over looks.

Ask.Audio (Hollin Jones, reviewing the original 6-band dEQ6) called it "powerful but fairly easy to grasp" and praised the interactive display, saying the "visual feedback is excellent".
Performance: the same review found it CPU-efficient even at 192 kHz with 4x oversampling.
Criticisms: Ask.Audio described it as "scientific, as opposed to flashy" and noted it may be more than you need if your DAW's EQ already covers the job.
