A plugin that automatically matches the timing (and, in SmartPitch, the pitch) of doubles, harmonies and backing vocals to a guide vocal.
Version 7 adds a multi-track workspace, so a whole vocal stack can be aligned to one or more guides in a single pass instead of track by track.

What it does
VocAlign 7 is Synchro Arts' vocal alignment plugin. It analyses a guide vocal and automatically adjusts the timing of other takes (doubles, harmonies, backing vocals) to match it, and can match their pitch too. The tool began in 1995 as an aid for film and TV dialogue replacement.
- Multi-track workspace: new in version 7; every vocal in the stack sits in one view, with flexible guide and dub assignment, so a whole stack can be processed at once.
- SmartAlign: fast time alignment with presets (including genre-based ones) and a Tightness control for looser or tighter results.
- SmartPitch: applies the guide's pitch to other tracks, so backing vocals don't need tuning separately.
- Fine control: Protected Areas and Sync Points, per-clip editing and a visual energy analysis across tracks.
- Pro edition: adds formant control and transpose for creative doubles, and SynchroLink 2.0 to work alongside RePitch 2.
It supports ARA in Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Studio One, Cubase, Nuendo and others, and has an instant-capture workflow for non-ARA DAWs. Standard and Pro versions are available.

When to use it
VocAlign is different from everything else in the rated list: it doesn't change the tone of a vocal, it lines up the performances. Vocal Rider and the de-essers work on level and sibilance; VocAlign makes stacked vocals sound tight before any of that happens.
- Best for: tightening doubles, harmonies and gang vocals, lining up ADR or dialogue, and matching the pitch of backing vocals to the lead.
- Genres: pop, hip-hop, R&B, rock and EDM productions with heavy vocal stacks.
- Look elsewhere if: you only need a quick one-track fix on a budget (Waves Sync Vx), or you want deeper editing of timing, pitch and level together (Revoice Pro 5).

- Gearnews (Marcus Schmahl) welcomed the end of the repetitive track-by-track process and called the upgrade pricing fair, while being cool on the subscription option.
