What it does
Event Horizon is Stillwell Audio's peak-eating limiter, combining limiting with soft clipping. The developer says it raises loudness with no pumping and no transient or frequency artifacts.
- Controls: three main parameters: threshold, ceiling and clipping softness.
- Latency: zero latency by default, with an optional traditional lookahead mode.
- Version 4.1.2, with a free evaluation copy and free lifetime updates.

When to use it
Event Horizon is a simple, low-cost loudness tool that leans on soft clipping rather than a lookahead limiter. It is a good fit for shaving peaks on drum buses and pushing a master a little louder.
- Best for: quick, transparent loudness on buses and masters.
- Look elsewhere if: you need true-peak metering, multiband limiting or fine control of release; Pro-L 2 or Ozone's Maximizer offer much more.
