When to use it

Speculative Memories is a cheap set of ready-made, emotional drones and textures with a single artist's dark voice. Compared with Augmented VOICES and Augmented STRINGS, it is narrower and has far fewer controls, but its tape-worn, spatially re-amped sounds feel more personal and less polished. Against Originals Cinematic Frozen Strings it is broader in source (bass, voice, guitar and modular) and darker in mood, while Frozen Strings stays purely acoustic. Some sounds are tied to set notes, so it works best as a bed under a cue rather than a playable instrument.

What producers say

Reviewers and buyers praise its moving, singular textures, with its niche scope as the main limit.
