When to use it

Mercury is a sound-design instrument for pads, drones and unusual textures made from real metal and wood sculptures rather than orchestral recordings. It suits film and game scoring, ambient and electronic production. It is not a melodic orchestral library, so pair it with strings or piano rather than expecting it to replace them.
