What it does
Iconic Strings Professional is a string library recorded in Abbey Road's Studio Two, with a mic and mix setup that reflects the studio's vintage and modern recording history.
- Players: the developer lists a string quintet (two violins, viola, cello and double bass) with separate articulations for each instrument.
- Articulations: long notes, sul pont, sul tasto, harmonics, trills, tremolo, flautando, spiccato, staccato, marcato, pizzicato and brushed.
- Legato: slurred, performance and portamento types in the Professional edition.
- Mics and mixes: 8 mic positions (including Neumann U47, KM54, M50, ribbon and ambient mics) and 4 mixes, two modern and two vintage, with EMT plate and Studio Two echo chamber reverbs.
- Arranger tool: controls how the ensemble voices are used. Runs in Spitfire's own plugin.

When to use it
Choose it for an intimate, close-miked string sound with a vintage studio flavour, rather than the large section sound of Hans Zimmer Strings or the ensemble patches in the Albion series. Good for pop, singer-songwriter, indie and film cues where strings need to sit in a mix.
