What it does

SoundID VoiceAI is an AI voice changer plugin that turns a recorded vocal into a different voice or an instrument inside your DAW. Sonarworks says every preset is built "with real artists, fairly compensated", and the output is royalty-free.

Presets: more than 50 voice and instrument presets with the perpetual licence; the trial opens the full library of 100+.
Voice packs: optional expansions of 10 presets each: Rock, Pop, Kids, K-pop and C-pop voices.
Unison Mode: stacks up to eight natural-sounding layers from one source for harmonies, doubles and backing vocals.
Local processing: unlimited processing on your own computer with the perpetual licence.
Cloud processing: token-based and faster than local; it uses 10 tokens per second of audio, with a 7-second minimum.

When to use it

SoundID VoiceAI is the better pick when you want a vocal to come back as a different, realistic singer or as an instrument. Compared with Nectar 4, which is a vocal mixing suite, it does no EQ, compression or de-essing; it replaces the voice itself. Unlike Auto-Tune Pro 11 or Little AlterBoy, it does not just shift pitch or formant, so the result is a new timbre rather than a processed version of the original. It needs a capture-and-process step, so it is less suited to live use than real-time tools such as Little AlterBoy.
