What it does
X-Phase is SSL's "intuitive tool for correcting awkward phase issues": an all-pass filter that applies a phase offset at a set frequency while leaving gain unchanged, for problems like overheads against close mics.
- All-pass filter: Frequency and Q controls set where and how broadly the phase shift is applied.
- Phase invert: flips the filter's phase by 180 degrees.
- Delay: time alignment of the whole signal in seconds, milliseconds, samples, meters or feet, with fine-tune buttons.
- Channel options: works on L, R or both channels, and can also create comb-filter effects.
- Workflow: input/output meters and levels, A/B preset slots and full DAW automation.

When to use it
X-Phase is a manual phase-alignment tool, and Universal Audio's Little Labs IBP Phase Alignment Tool is its classic analog-modeled equivalent. Pick X-Phase for frequency-specific phase shift plus delay in one simple window, where Eventide Precision Time Align focuses on sample-accurate delay and Waves InPhase LT adds visual alignment.

- Genres: general purpose, any recorded material.
- Look elsewhere if: you want automatic phase detection and correction.
