FlexVerb
by Solid State Logic · Reverb · Algorithmic reverb
Not rated yet
An algorithmic reverb with Room, Hall, Plate and Chamber types and separate early and late reflection engines, built to sit in a mix without much extra processing.
A 6-band SSL EQ, an output compressor keyed from the dry signal and infinite and kill switches for the tail make it a mixing tool rather than just a space.
Best for: Vocals, Drums, Guitars, Keys & Synths. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: algorithmic, ducking, mixing, chamber, drums, hall, infinite, plate, room, sidechain input, vocals, polish.
What it does
FlexVerb is SSL's "mix ready reverb," an algorithmic reverb with split early and late reflections and built-in EQ and dynamics.
- Algorithms: Room, Hall, Plate and Chamber types in Small, Medium and Large sizes, with independent algorithm choice for early and late reflections.
- Tail controls: Pre-Delay, Diffusion, Size, Reverb Time and Modulation, plus 3-band reverb time multipliers.
- EQ: 6-band SSL EQ with an FFT display and draggable nodes, plus high- and low-pass filters.
- Dynamics: an input sidechain compressor and an output compressor sidechained by the dry input, for ducking the reverb.
- Workflow: infinite and kill switches for the tail, a lockable dry/wet mix and a preset manager with factory presets.
The current version is 6.9.5. A 14-day trial is available.

When to use it
Pick FlexVerb if you want a reverb with SSL EQ and sidechain ducking built in, so the tail is shaped and controlled inside one plugin, rather than flexible all-round algorithmic reverbs like Valhalla VintageVerb and FabFilter Pro-R 2, or LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven Professional, which focuses on classic Bricasti-style spaces.
- Best for: vocals, drums and instruments where you want the reverb EQ'd and ducked without extra plugins.
- Genres: all genres.
- Look elsewhere if: you want lush, characterful vintage spaces; VintageVerb or Seventh Heaven have more personality.
- Standout: the output compressor keyed from the dry signal, which keeps the reverb out of the way of the source.
What producers say
Users are split: many praise the polished, flexible sound and the ducking compressor, while a few found it unnatural.
- KVR user (2021) gave it 5/5: "Fantastic reverb. Great sounding, super flexible."
- Sweetwater customers (2021-2022) averaged 3.9/5; one said it "sounds incredibly polished and professional."
- Gripe: a 2022 Sweetwater reviewer said "It sounds very fake, plastic and cheap" and advised trying before buying.
