What it does

An emulation of the EQ from the Trident A-Range console, of which only 13 were ever built. Softube developed it with the console's designer, Malcolm Toft.

Bands: four EQ bands plus high-pass and low-pass filters.
Saturation: a saturation control for extra edge.
Sound: Softube describes it as sweet but edgy, with organic interaction between bands.
Integration: light on CPU, Console 1 ready and Amp Room ready.

When to use it

A character console EQ for adding colour while shaping tone, rather than a clean surgical tool. It is a good fit for vocals, guitars, drums and bass where you want musical boosts with some grit. For precise corrective work, use a modern parametric EQ instead.
