What it does
A model of the Overstayer Modular Active Saturator (M-A-S), officially licensed and developed with Overstayer founder Jeff Turzo. Softube describes it as a harmonic saturator, peak bender and tone-sculpting tool for mixing and mastering.
- Emphasis types: six choices: Classic M-A-S, Low Bandwidth, Low Presence, High Presence, Bass Distortion and Treble Distortion.
- Modes: Dual and 2nd modes add harmonic complexity.
- Gain: input auto-gain compensation.
- Versions: M-A-S, M-A-S Extended (adds a 4-band parametric EQ and resonant filters), and modules for Amp Room and Modular.
When to use it
A tone-shaping saturator for tracks, buses and the master, with more sculpting control than a one-knob unit such as Softube's own Saturation Knob. Suits mixes that need weight and presence without obvious distortion, from hip hop and electronic to mastering.
