Model 80 Five Voice Synthesizer by Softube

A circuit-modeled recreation of the 1980 Sequential Prophet-5 five-voice polysynth, developed with Dave Smith, with original factory presets and a Modular version.

Best for: Keys & Synths. Genres: Electronic & EDM, Pop, Ambient & Cinematic.

Keywords: analog, polyphonic, 80s, circuit-modelled, hardware emulation, monophonic, 70s, analog-sounding, classic, inspired by, loose, standalone app, subtractive, vintage.

What it does

Softube's circuit model of a 1980 five-voice polysynth, the first synth to pair a digital microprocessor with analog sound generation (the Prophet-5).

Sounds: 40 original factory presets with hardware-style recall buttons.
Performance: poly-portamento glide, Voice Pan Spread, velocity and aftertouch modulation, filter cutoff quantize and DAW sync.
Voice Mod: a modelled Voice Mod section, with a new Invert button for extra range.
Aging knob: adds the drift and looseness of an older unit.
Two versions: a standalone instrument, and five modules (VCO, VCF, LFO, ENV, MULTIPAN) for Softube Modular.

When to use it

Pick this for the classic early-80s polysynth sound: pads, brass-style stabs, strings and warm leads with a hardware feel. It is a focused, one-architecture instrument, unlike the wide sound-design range of Serum 2 or Vital, and its closest rated relative is u-he Diva, which models several synths. Suits pop, synthwave, new wave, soundtrack and ambient work.
