What it does
An emulation of the Chandler Limited Germanium Compressor, a compressor that adds harmonic colour as well as gain reduction.
- Tone: clean or dirty modes with THD control, and a choice of germanium, silicon or Zener diode combinations.
- Controls: gain/drive, feedback, and attack and release for punchy drums or smoother vocals and bass.
- Software extras: mid/side processing, external sidechain and Console 1 support.
When to use it
An aggressive, characterful compressor that can also work as saturation, so it suits drums, bass, vocals and parallel compression. It's less transparent than Pro-C 3 and similarly colourful to the Distressor in the rated list.
