What it does
A dual-channel variable-mu tube compressor modeled on the hardware 670, for weight and warmth on groups and the mix bus.
- Saturation: separate tube and transformer knobs, plus calibration.
- Sidechain: filter, tone shift and mono or stereo linking.
- Spatial tools: air band, mono maker and stereo widening; M/S channel outputs.
- Use cases: mix bus, drum bus, vocals, electric guitar and mastering.
When to use it
The vari-mu option next to the more modern Bus Processor. It offers tube and transformer saturation, so it suits bus compression, drums and mastering where you want valve-style weight. It is a different flavour from the rated compressors, which are mostly FET, opto or VCA designs.
