A transient designer for adjusting attack and sustain.

Best for: Drums, Drum Bus. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: drums, mixing, bus processing, drum bus, single-band, stereo-linked, warm.

What it does

Slate's Transient Shaper adjusts the attack and sustain of a sound, with frequency focus.

Core controls: Transient and Sustain gain, and Time to set the length of each.
Focus: limits the effect to a frequency range, with bandpass capability, and a Listen button isolates what is being processed.
Extras: Warmth (harmonic saturation), Mix, Makeup Gain, Safety Clip and Stereo Link.

When to use it

Use it to tighten or soften drums, add punch to bass or bring a sound forward in the mix. The Focus section makes it more targeted than simple attack/sustain shapers, but it is less established than the rated Brainworx SPL Transient Designer Plus and Kilohearts Transient Shaper.

Suits drums, bass and percussive instruments in any genre.
