An equalizer plug-in in Slate's Infinity line for broad tonal shaping.

Best for: Mix Bus, Mastering, Vocals. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: low latency, dynamic, full mix, harsh, vocals, broad-strokes, bus processing, external sidechain, mastering, mid/side, mix bus, mixing, multi-band, sidechain input, zero-latency.

What it does

Infinity Horizon is a resonance suppressor: it finds harsh or boomy frequencies in real time and reduces them while keeping the source's character.

Modes: Wideband for quick fixes or Multiband (four bands, each with threshold, balance, makeup and bypass) for finer control.
Detection: Adaptive mode tracks the signal live; Custom Curve uses a learned "fingerprint".
Controls: Amount, Timing, Sharpness, Tilt and Resolution, a heat-map display, Preserve Energy, mid/side or stereo operation and external sidechain.
Latency: a zero-latency mode, or a standard mode at about 40 to 50 ms.

When to use it

Reach for it on vocals, guitars, synths and mixes that sound brittle in the highs or boomy in the lows and where a static EQ cut would dull the whole sound. It is Slate's answer to resonance suppressors such as Soothe2, rather than a general-purpose EQ.

Works on any genre; most useful on dense or bright material.
