A clipper built around one saturation control that sweeps from clean hard clipping to softer, rounder saturation. It adds heavy oversampling to keep aliasing down and an auto-gain mode so you can compare fairly at matched level.
It is the clipper roundups name first most often. Engineers use it on drums, 808s and the master bus in hip-hop and EDM, and it costs very little.

What it does
StandardCLIP is SIR Audio Tools' clipper, pitched as the "secret weapon of top producers" for raising the level of a mix or adding harmonics to a signal.
- Four clipping modes: Soft Clip Classic (the default), Soft Clip Pro (leaves material below the threshold alone), Hard Clip, and Soft Clip Saturator, which sweeps between hard and soft saturation.
- Oversampling: up to 256x, with linear-phase or minimum-phase filters, adjustable filter settings, and a separate higher factor for offline bounces.
- Gain staging: input gain, clip level, output gain with an Output Gain Assistant, and an optional ceiling that stops any sample going over a set level.
- Display: a transfer-curve plot, input and output waveforms, peak and RMS meters, and a gain difference meter.

When to use it
StandardCLIP is the no-fuss, low-cost option: one clipper stage with a choice of curves and very high quality oversampling. KClip 3 adds multiband and more colours, and unlike Gold Clip and Ash, StandardCLIP does not chase the sound of specific converters.
- Best for: the master bus before a limiter, and drums, 808s and bass in hip-hop, trap and EDM.
- Tip: Soft Clip Pro keeps the dynamics below the threshold intact, which suits mastering; Soft Clip Saturator is the one to reach for when you want colour.
- Watch out for: very high oversampling factors, which can slow down playback and bounces.
What producers say
It comes up in almost every "best clipper" thread on Reddit and forums, helped by its low price.
- Mix found that "the absence of high-frequency distortion grabs you first", got 1.5 dB or more of extra level on masters, and called it a low-risk, high-payoff purchase.
- Criticisms: Mix's reviewer found oversampling at 32x and above slow to render without a matching gain in sound quality.
