Cache is a real-time audio manipulator from Sinevibes that records incoming audio and applies buffer effects such as repeat, reverse, scratch and stretch, triggered by MIDI notes.
Up to 12 effects can run at once from separate MIDI key zones with sample-level timing, for live performance, remixing and sound design, for $49.
Best for: Drums, Keys & Synths, Vocals, Sound Design. Genres: Electronic & EDM, Hip-Hop & Trap.

What it does
Cache is a MIDI-played buffer effect from Sinevibes: it keeps recording whatever comes in and lets you trigger stutters, tape stops, scratches and reverses from a keyboard or the piano roll. The developer pitches it as a tool for live performance, studio production, remixing and sound design.
- Repeat-style effects: Loop, Repeat, Ping-Pong and Robotize for buffer loops, stutters and robotic retriggers.
- Time and pitch effects: Stretch, Stop, Bend, Roll Up and Roll Down for slow-downs, tape stops, pitch bends and rising or falling rolls.
- Direction effects: Reverse, Rewind and Scratch for backwards playback, rewind sweeps and turntable-style scratching.
- 12 key zones: each MIDI key zone holds one algorithm, and up to 12 can be triggered at once with sample-level timing.
- Smooth edits: spline interpolation, fade envelopes and two-pole gate switches keep the cuts click-free.
- Channel setups: mono-to-mono, mono-to-stereo and stereo-to-stereo.
Cache comes with a demo and a PDF manual. A separate version for the Korg NTS-3 kaoss pad is also sold.

When to use it
Cache is the better pick when you want to play buffer effects by hand rather than program them. Compared with Effectrix2, it has no step-sequencer grid; instead you trigger each effect from a MIDI key, live or drawn in the piano roll. Like Stutter Edit 2 it is played from MIDI notes, but each key holds one simple buffer effect instead of a pre-built multi-effect gesture, and it is cheaper. It has a narrower scope than Infiltrator 2, with no filters, distortion or modulation rack, so it pairs well with other effects rather than replacing them.
- Best for: live stutters, tape stops, scratches and reverse fills on drums, breaks, vocals and full mixes.
- Genres: electronic, breakbeat, drum and bass, hip-hop and remix work.
- Look elsewhere if: you prefer drawing effects on a grid (Effectrix2) or want a full multi-effect chain in one plugin (Infiltrator 2).
- Tip: in Ableton Live, route both the audio track and a MIDI track to Cache, and set monitoring to In for jamming or Auto for triggering clips (CDM).
What producers say
Early coverage is very positive, treating Cache as an instant, playable way to mangle breaks; long-term user reviews are still scarce.
- CDM (Peter Kirn) called it "simply perfect" for turning buffer effects into something you can improvise with, and praised the MIDI mapping of all 12 algorithms and the smooth, click-free processing.
- Criticisms: CDM raised none; its piece is a launch overview rather than a long-term test.
