Its real-time anti-aliasing reduces aliasing without high upsampling ratios; the stereo version is £49 (about $65).

Keywords: oversampling, drums, mixing, mastering, sound design, creative, built-in mix knob, clean, bus processing, full mix, parallel processing, tape, transparent, auto-gain, corrective, drum bus, heavy, metering, mix bus, musical, post-production, resizable UI, single-band, smooth, subtle, utility.

What it does

SKYE Clipper is Signum Audio's anti-aliased clipper for transparent peak control as well as creative distortion. Signum says it "can be used for mixing, mastering and creative sound design," naming drum buses, SFX and post-production as uses.

Both the stereo and the Surround version have 30-day free trials.

When to use it

SKYE Clipper is the pick when you want several clip shapes, clean anti-aliasing and surround support in one plug-in. Compared with StandardCLIP and KClip 3, its main differences are the Surround version up to 7.1.4 and the history view that shows exactly where clipping happens over time. It offers more colour than the free Free Clip 2, with seven types that run from clean hard clipping to tape-like warmth and aggressive distortion, but it costs more. Unlike Gold Clip or bx_clipper, it has a dry/wet control for parallel clipping right on the main panel. Plugin Noise reports about 80 ms of latency, so it is better on buses and masters than on tracks you are recording through.

What producers say

The one detailed review we found is positive, praising the smooth sound when pushed and the surround support.
