Orange Clip 3 by Schwabe Digital

Orange Clip recreates the sound of FL Studio's stock soft clipper for any DAW, and version 3 turns it into a three-band clipper.

Linear-phase crossovers, per-band knee, dry/wet and bypass controls, and a final whole-band clipper give it far more tone control than the original single-band design.

Best for: Drums, Drum Bus, Bass, Mix Bus, Mastering. Genres: Hip-Hop & Trap, R&B & Soul, Pop, Electronic & EDM.

Keywords: multi-band, soft clip, bus processing, hardware emulation, linear-phase, built-in mix knob, drums, mix bus, 808s, full mix, kick, mastering, parallel processing, bass, deep, drum bus, gritty, metering, mixing, modern, oversampling, rap vocals, utility.

What it does

Orange Clip is Schwabe Digital's clipper modeled on the stock soft clipper in FL Studio, made so users of other DAWs can get that sound. Version 3, a free update for existing owners, adds multiband processing; the developer's tagline is "One Plugin. Endless Possibilities."

Orange Clip 3 has a 30-day free trial.

When to use it

Pick Orange Clip 3 when you want the specific FL Studio soft-clip tone on 808s, kicks and mix buses, with multiband control over how hard each range hits. Schwabe Digital's own Gold Clip is a cleaner mastering clipper than it, modeled on a converter; KClip 3 and bx_clipper are more general clippers with their own saturation options, and SIR Audio Tools' StandardCLIP is a precise single-band clipper where Orange Clip 3 is multiband.

What producers say

KVR users debated the price for what began as an emulation of a stock FL Studio plugin, while those who tried it said it gets that sound outside FL.
