What it does
Q82 (formerly QuantX) is Relab's recreation of a "beloved 80's hardware reverb, revered for its highly realistic ambience and long reverb times", a classic room simulator from 1982. Relab captured it with machine learning, quirks included.
- Dual-engine design: a reverb engine and an enhancement engine, each with four outputs, blended to set width and front-to-back depth in real time.
- Two hardware algorithms: a pristine factory-spec German unit and a characterful, time-worn US unit with an unstable crystal clock and aging components.
- Temperature control: emulates the change from a cold startup to a unit that has been on for 72 hours.
- 8-voice modulation: Relab's hand-tuned Advanced Chorus Ensemble adds depth to the tail.
- Extras: first-reflection channel swapping and expanded bandwidth control beyond the original.

When to use it
Q82 is for engineers who specifically want the room-simulator sound of this 1982 unit, with its long, natural tails. Valhalla Room and VintageVerb cover natural rooms and vintage digital tones for far less, and Relab's own LX480 Dual-Engine Reverb models a different classic unit with a denser, smoother character than Q82.
- Best for: natural rooms and halls on drums, vocals and acoustic instruments, and long ambient tails.
- Genres: rock, pop, acoustic, orchestral and ambient work where realistic space matters.
- Look elsewhere if: price matters most; KVR users pointed to a cheaper emulation of the same unit from Savant Audio.
- Standout: switching between the German and aged US unit, with the Temperature knob for warm-up drift.
What producers say
At its launch as QuantX, KVR users liked the sound but debated the price against a cheaper rival emulation.
- KVR users (2023) one said "This reverb is freakin' fantastic." and another found it "better than the Savant to listen to and to use."
- Gripe: others called it a "Tough sell given Savant's is almost half the price and sounds brilliant", and some asked for audio demos on the product page.
