When to use it

Strom is a one-job instrument: tense, scratchy string textures for suspense and scoring. Compared with Arturia Pigments 7 or Kilohearts Phase Plant, it has a tiny fraction of the synthesis options, but it reaches this kind of sound quickly. Unlike Omnisphere 3, it has no large library of realistic or cinematic patches to browse; you shape the texture yourself. Next to Puremagnetik's Swarm, which scatters a sample you load, Strom generates its own source from modeled strings and noise.
