P440 Sweet Spot by Pulsar Modular

P440 Sweet Spot is a three-band mastering EQ with hardware-like character, combining fixed and proportional Q with custom shelves and filters.

It adds an infrasonic Tremor circuit, a Bias circuit and a Gain Scale dial, for $274.

Best for: Mastering, Mix Bus, Drum Bus, Vocals. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: mastering, bus processing, mix bus, full mix, low latency, vinyl, built-in analyzer, metering, A/B compare, broad-strokes, drum bus, dual-mono, inspired by, mixing, oversampling, punchy, static, transformer, utility, vocals, zero-latency.

What it does

P440 Sweet Spot is a three-band mastering EQ for tracks, groups, stems, the 2-bus and finished mixes, designed with Grammy-winning mastering engineer Robb Robinson. The developer says it "does not follow a hardware topology" and does not reuse another EQ's curves.

This is version 2.3.2 (September 2025). The basic path has zero latency; oversampling on MOD, SOUL and O2 adds a reported delay, and turning SOUL or O2 off saves CPU. A fully working 30-day trial is available.

When to use it

P440 Sweet Spot is for mastering engineers who want a stepped, recallable EQ with a lot of tunable colour. Compared with the Manley Massive Passive EQ and the Pultec Passive EQ Collection, it is not tied to one hardware sound, and adds mono-maker lows, Mid/Side routing and an analyser. It is much more coloured and hands-on than Pro-Q 4, which remains the faster pick for precise or dynamic correction. Against TDR VOS SlickEQ, it offers far more character controls but costs many times more and takes longer to learn.

What producers say

Forum users like its tone and stepped workflow, but some find it complicated and expensive for what it adds.
