What it does
P19 Igloo is a peak compressor built mainly for drums. The developer sums it up as "Hits hard, but stays alive": the aim is punch, openness and clarity that survive heavy gain reduction.
- Recoil engine: a new peak compression engine that reacts against its own gain reduction to keep transients intact.
- PSI circuit: the colour circuit carried over from P11 Abyss.
- DYNAMICS control: a slider unique to P19 for shaping the compression character.
- Core controls: threshold, ratio, attack, release and makeup gain, with a VU meter.
- EASY mode: switches to a streamlined panel; full mode shows every parameter.
- Timing options: zero latency by default, an optional lookahead, and a choice of stepped or continuous controls, including stepped attack.
This is version 1.1.7 (November 2025; first released June 2025). It has a 30-day fully working trial.

When to use it
P19 Igloo is the better pick when you want to squash drums hard and still keep the hit. Compared with the 1176 Classic Limiter Collection and CLA-76, it is not an emulation of a classic unit; its recoil engine is designed to protect transients under heavy gain reduction. It is more focused than the Distressor, which offers more distortion and detector options for any source. It adds more colour than TDR Kotelnikov, which is the cleaner choice. It is also cheaper and simpler than its sibling P11 Abyss.
- Best for: heavy drum and drum bus compression that keeps transients, room mics and punchy bass, and glue on mix buses.
- Genres: rock, metal, hip-hop, electronic and pop drum production.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a vintage-unit emulation or a general mastering compressor; P11 Abyss or Pro-C 3 cover more ground.
