VectoMelt2 is a modulation multi-effect built around an XY pad that blends wow and flutter, feeding chorus, phaser/filter, dub echo and lo-fi saturation.
An AutoMod function moves the vector on its own in Orbit or Jump modes; it costs $64.
Best for: Keys & Synths, Guitars, Vocals, Sound Design. Genres: Lo-Fi, Ambient & Cinematic, Electronic & EDM.
Keywords: wobble, flutter, dub, chorus, lo-fi, phaser, vocals, electric guitar, gritty, keys, randomize, mixing, multi-band, resizable UI, samples & loops, sound design, spacious, pads, synths, wide.
What it does
VectoMelt2 is Psychic Modulation's "multi-FX modulation plugin" for adding analogue-style drift, texture and space. Its centre is the Melt vector, an XY pad that blends wow and flutter modulation and sends it to several effects at once.
- Melt vector: an XY pad where the X axis mixes the Wow and Flutter modulation and the Y axis sets the depth; targets include pitch, amplitude, the Phltr and the Echo.
- Wow and Flutter: analogue-style drifting, instability and random fluctuation at two different speeds.
- AutoMod: moves the vector for you, either in Orbit (circular movement) or Jump (sporadic jumps away from the set point).
- Chorus: multi-voice stereo chorus with feedback and spread controls.
- Phltr: an 8-stage peak filter with phaser-like character, plus a low-pass, high-pass or band-pass filter stage.
- Echo: dub-style delay with beat factor, feedback, drive, filtering and a loop function.
- Lo-Fi: a single band-splitting saturation control for grit.
- Workflow: sub-presets and a randomise button for each section, a patch manager with included presets, and custom GUI scaling.
Version 2 was released in January 2024. The demo has occasional sound dropouts. Existing VectoMelt owners could get upgrade pricing from the developer.

When to use it
VectoMelt2 is the pick when you want wobble that keeps moving on its own, with chorus, phaser and dub echo in the same box. Compared with Wow2 or Lofi Oddity it does more than pitch wobble: the XY pad and AutoMod animate the modulation itself and push it into the filter and delay. Unlike RC-20 Retro Color, it puts the focus on movement and space rather than noise and saturation, with only a single Lo-Fi control for grit. It is less precise than MicroShift for clean stereo widening and has a smaller, more fixed scope than ShaperBox 3 or Portal, but it is quicker for drifting, tape-like textures.
- Best for: drifting pads and keys, warbly guitars, dubby echoes and atmospheric vocal beds.
- Genres: lo-fi, ambient, dub, synthwave and electronic.
- Look elsewhere if: you want clean, transparent modulation (MicroShift) or heavy lo-fi saturation and noise (RC-20 Retro Color).
- Tip: use the per-section randomise buttons for quick variations, then save the result as a sub-preset for that section.
What producers say
The original VectoMelt was well reviewed, and VectoMelt2 was received as a sensible update.
- MusicRadar (review of the original VectoMelt, 2019) said the XY control takes the Melt effect "to new heights" and found the Echo "a great delay in its own right"; it criticised the EQ for having only three bands.
- Synth Anatomy (2024 news) called VectoMelt2 "an excellent update", singling out the compact, scalable GUI and per-section preset saving.
