What it does
Supermodal is Polyverse's modal filter: "make your music resonate." It uses hundreds of precisely tuned bandpass filters to simulate how real-world objects resonate, then adds a conventional filter and deep modulation.
- 27 modal modes: from acoustic and synth-style to mathematical and special-effect models, with seamless morphing between modes.
- Resonance shaping: decay, damping and partial controls for shaping how the modes ring.
- State variable filter: a 24 dB per octave SVF with non-linear drive alongside the modal engine.
- Modulation: 4 slots with 6 sources: Meta knob, ADSR, envelope follower, sequencer, MIDI/CV and randomizer, with independent left and right modulation.
- Presets: more than 200 included.
It is also sold in a filter bundle with Filterverse.

When to use it
Supermodal is the pick when you want pitched, physical-sounding resonance on drums, noise or vocals, plus a standard filter and sequenced movement in the same plugin. It is less simple than Kilohearts Resonator, which also adds tuned resonances, and unlike FabFilter Volcano 3 and Polyverse Filterverse, conventional multimode filters with deep modulation, it adds pitched resonance.
- Best for: turning drums, noise and loops into pitched, metallic or wooden tones, and animated filter movement.
- Genres: electronic, ambient, cinematic and hip-hop.
- Look elsewhere if: you only need a standard sweepable filter; Filtron is free and simpler.
- Standout: 27 morphable modal models driven by a built-in sequencer and envelope follower.
What producers say
Press reviews are strongly positive; there are no KVR user reviews yet.
- MusicRadar (2023): gave it 5/5: "inspiring, deep, not too complex or gimmicky."
- Sound On Sound (2023): said "Supermodal sounds great" and the "Stylish GUI is a pleasure to use."
- Gripe: SOS's only con was the temptation to put it on everything.
