What it does
Zampler // RX is a free sample workstation, made with Beat (beat.de) and built on algorithms from Synapse Audio, the developer of Dune.
- Sample engine: REX loop and SFZ support, any bit depth, sample rates up to 384 kHz, and up to 128 key splits and 128 velocity splits.
- Sound shaping: a multimode filter (low, high, band-pass, band-stop and combinations), three LFOs, three ADSR envelopes and a modulation matrix.
- Step sequencer: for complex, moving patches.
- Effects: tube saturation, two equalizers, phaser, chorus, delay and reverb.
- Free sounds: two banks, Dance Production Sounds and MainRoom and EDM DrumKits, are included, with paid expansions available.
It is free.

When to use it
Zampler // RX is closer to a rompler than sample players such as TAL-Sampler, TX16Wx and Decent Sampler: its strength is the preset banks and synth-style modulation rather than sample editing. It is also smaller than SampleTank 4, a bigger commercial workstation. Pick it as a free, synth-like player for SFZ and REX content.
- Best for: free preset-based leads, pads and drum kits, and playing SFZ or REX libraries with synth-style modulation.
- Genres: EDM, trance, hip-hop and pop.
- Standout: a Synapse-built engine with a mod matrix and step sequencer, for free.
What producers say
Users call it a strong free instrument with good presets; one noted some banks failed to load until re-saved.
- KVR user (2018): "For what this thing does, it is really outstanding," comparing it to "a cross between ReFx Nexus and Dune2."
- Plugin Boutique customers (2026): "Good for a free plugin," with "a great set of preset for a quick selection."
- Gripe: the same KVR user found a couple of banks "had issues loading due to an error in the fxb."
