BREVERB 2 is an algorithmic reverb modelled on classic 1980s and 1990s hardware units, with seven algorithms and 270+ presets.
It has low CPU use and zero added latency. It costs about $146.48 (€129, regular €149).
Best for: Vocals, Drums, Mix Bus. Genres: all genres.

What it does
BREVERB 2 is Overloud's algorithmic reverb that aims to recreate the sound of "the most glorious hardware units" while keeping CPU load very low. It adds modern extras, such as gating and 3D positioning, that the classic boxes did not have.
- Seven algorithms: Hall, Room, Plate, Inverse, Spaces Small, Spaces Large and Source.
- Presets and spaces: 270+ factory presets made by engineers, plus 50+ recreated ambient spaces in the Spaces algorithms.
- Shaping: separate control of early reflections and the reverberant field, a full EQ section, and motion parameters that add liveness and air movement to the tail.
- Nonlinear and gate: an extended Nonlinear section for creative, gated-style reverbs, and a Gating section the original hardware did not offer.
- 3D positioning: the Source algorithm places a sound in a space with a graphic 3D view, aimed at post-production.
- Interface: a hardware-style panel with six assignable, automatable faders or a compact view, MIDI control, multilevel undo/redo and host-synced times.
- Efficiency: no added latency; Overloud quotes 120 stereo instances on a Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro.
KVR lists version 2.1.18. A trial is available.
When to use it
BREVERB 2 is a strong pick when you want classic hall, room and plate sounds plus gated and inverse effects in one low-CPU reverb you can put on every bus. Compared with VintageVerb, it has fewer modes and less era colour, but adds a gate section, detailed early-reflection control and 3D positioning for post work. Compared with LX480 Dual-Engine Reverb and SP2016 Reverb, it is less tied to one famous box and lighter on CPU, though those plugins chase their source hardware more closely. It is also cheaper and simpler than Seventh Heaven Professional, with less of that plugin's Bricasti-style depth.
- Best for: vocal plates and halls, drum rooms and gated drum reverbs, pads, and post-production placement with the Source algorithm.
- Genres: pop, rock, film and TV post, and most mixing work.
- Look elsewhere if: you want huge modulated ambient washes (Supermassive or Blackhole) or a visual EQ-driven reverb (Pro-R 2).
What producers say
Users mostly praise its clean sound and very low CPU use; the few complaints are about the interface.
- KVR users rate it 4.67 out of 5 from 3 reviews. A 2016 reviewer on version 2 called the tails silky smooth and uncoloured, with a fast workflow and no latency.
- Earlier KVR reviews (version 1) found it "lush, rich and really dream-like" and praised the ratio of sound quality to CPU use.
- Criticisms: one older KVR review found preset handling weak, the stereo width faders too small, and a slight digital quality to the sound.
