A plugin that listens to your track and suggests royalty-free, musician-made samples that fit its key, tempo and style, previewed in sync with your session.
Output uses AI to search and curate its library rather than generate audio, and you drag results straight into your DAW or into Arcade.
Best for: Sound Design, Drums, Keys & Synths. Genres: Hip-Hop & Trap, Pop, Electronic & EDM, R&B & Soul.
Keywords: samples & loops, AI/machine learning, subscription, AI assistant, bus processing, drums, minimal controls, mix bus, mixing, sound design, utility.
What it does
Co-Producer, launched in March 2025, is Output's AI sample finder: "the fastest way to find samples that fit." You place it on your mix bus, it analyzes the harmony and rhythm of your track, and it suggests samples from Output's cloud library.
- Track analysis: listens to your session and suggests samples that match its key, tempo and style.
- In-context preview: auditions suggestions synced to your session's tempo and key, inside the DAW.
- Search tools: refine results with text prompts and explore similar sounds; a Re-Imagine feature creates variations of samples.
- Library: unlimited access to musician-made, royalty-free samples with daily additions, no credits, streamed from the cloud rather than installed.
- Workflow: drag and drop results into any DAW or into Output's Arcade sampler for slicing and further processing.
KVR lists version 1.5.0. It is subscription-only, with a 7-day trial, or included in the Output One bundle with Arcade, Portal, Thermal and Movement.
When to use it
Co-Producer listens to your track and brings back matching samples. That sets it apart from Waves COSMOS Sample Finder, which organizes the samples you already own, and from Output's Arcade and LANDR Sampler, which are playable instruments built on subscription loop libraries. Pick it when you are mid-project and want fitting loops fast rather than a sampler to play or a tool for sorting your own library.
- Best for: finding loops, one-shots and ear candy that match an existing track's key and tempo.
- Genres: sample-based hip-hop, pop, R&B and electronic music.
- Look elsewhere if: you dislike subscriptions, work offline, or need samples re-harmonized to a chord progression.
- Standout: analysis of your mix that returns samples already in your key and tempo.
What producers say
Reviewers find it useful for speeding up sample searches, with the subscription and its focus on refining rather than inventing as the main caveats.
- Sound On Sound (2025) John Walden called it "more than just an AI-based sample library search tool," with good value via Output One, but noted it cannot re-harmonize samples to match a chord progression.
- Internet Tattoo found it speeds up mid-project work but "isn't built for jamming or invention," and the subscription "isn't for everyone."
- WaveInformer (2025) praised the minimalist interface and seamless DAW integration, and raised no significant drawbacks.
