What it does
The APH2S is the phaser of Nomad Factory's Blue Tubes series, relaunched on 2 March 2026. Nomad Factory describes it as vintage multi-stage phasing whose resonant filtering mimics analog behaviour, for anything from subtle movement to deep sweeps.
- Selectable stages: choose 4, 6, 8 or 12 filter stages, from subtle movement to pronounced sweeps.
- Speed and Depth: set the rate and range of the sweep.
- Modulation sync: the LFO can run freely or lock to the host tempo.
- Resonance: sets how strongly the resonant filters emphasise the sweep.
- Color: shapes the tonal character of the effect.
- Width: spreads the phasing across the stereo field for wide, old-school movement.
The developer's page showed it on promotion when checked; no demo is mentioned.

When to use it
The APH2S is a straightforward, cheap phaser with a classic sound and only a handful of knobs. Compared with Soundtoys PhaseMistress it has fewer character options and modulation sources, but it costs a fraction of the price and is quicker to dial in. Its 4- to 12-stage choice covers similar ground to Moog's 12-stage phaser design without modelling one specific unit. Unlike ShaperBox 3 or Output Movement, it does one job, a sweeping phaser, rather than offering multi-effect modulation.
- Best for: classic phasing on electric guitars, Rhodes and other keys, synth pads and drum loops.
- Genres: rock, funk, pop, electronic and R&B.
- Look elsewhere if: you want deep sound-design modulation (ShaperBox 3, Movement) or more phaser styles and modulation sources in one plugin (PhaseMistress).
What producers say
Recent reviews are scarce; the main press verdict comes from Tape Op's review of an earlier version, which was positive.
- Tape Op (Larry Crane, issue 45, 2005) called the earlier PH-2S a "winning effect" with a "big, thick, soupy" sound and said he used it on several mixes.
- Caveat: that review covers the Blue Tubes 2.0 version; the 2026 release has not been reviewed in the press yet.
