What it does
AMT Max Warm is a brickwall limiter and level maximizer with a two-band EQ built in, from Nomad Factory's Analog Mastering Tools line. The developer says its processing gives "a more natural warm sound" while holding the ceiling.
- Look-ahead brickwall limiting: maximizes the incoming level while holding peaks under the output ceiling, to prevent clipping.
- Dynamic signal analysis: a proprietary analysis algorithm drives the maximizing, aimed at a warmer, more natural result.
- Two-band EQ: low and high bands with shelving and peaking options and adjustable frequencies, for tone shaping in the same plugin.
- One-plugin finishing: EQ, limiting and loudness in a single window, for mix bus or stem work without a chain of plugins.
Version 2 was released on 11 April 2025. It is often on promotion, and it is part of the Analog Mastering Tools bundle and the Integral Studio Pack. The product page does not mention a demo.

When to use it
AMT Max Warm is the pick when you want a little tone shaping and loudness from one cheap plugin. Unlike Waves L2 Ultramaximizer or Pro-L 2, it puts a basic two-band EQ in front of the limiter, so you can brighten or warm a mix while you push it. Compared with Ozone 12, which also combines EQ and maximizing, it is far simpler, without Ozone's detailed metering and true-peak limiting. It is also a step up from AMT Amp Leveling, its sibling in the same bundle, if you want the EQ. For detailed mastering, Pro-L 2 with Pro-Q 4 goes much further.
- Best for: quick finishing on a mix bus, stems or demos, and adding warmth to a mix while limiting.
- Genres: general-purpose.
- Look elsewhere if: you need detailed metering, true-peak limiting or a full mastering EQ; use Ozone 12, or Pro-L 2 with Pro-Q 4.
- Tip: an Audiofanzine reviewer used the low and high EQ bands to make vocals sound more natural while limiting.
What producers say
The older user reviews like the warmth and simplicity but see it as a home-studio tool rather than a professional mastering limiter.
- Audiofanzine users (two reviews, 2010 and 2011, of the original version) praised the easy interface, the built-in EQ and "the warmth it adds to a mix".
- Criticisms: both reviewers said it isn't the best-sounding limiter for professional mastering and suits mixing and home mastering better.
