AMT Amp Leveling is a look-ahead brickwall limiter and level maximizer from Nomad Factory's Analog Mastering Tools line.

What it does

AMT Amp Leveling is a look-ahead brickwall limiter and maximizer from Nomad Factory's Analog Mastering Tools line, meant for mixing, mastering, tracking and live use. The developer says its algorithm gives a "smooth, warm sound" and loudness with no digital overs.

Look-ahead limiting: the limiter sees peaks coming and catches them before they pass the ceiling, to prevent clipping.
Automatic level: the output rises automatically as you push the input gain, so loudness is set mainly with one control.
Recovery: sets the release time of the limiter.
Output ceiling: caps the maximum output level for the final safety stage.
Low CPU: optimized for low resource use, so it can run on many tracks or in a live rig.

Version 2 was released on 11 April 2025, and KVR lists the current build as 2.1.1. It is often on promotion, and it is also part of the Analog Mastering Tools bundle and the Integral Studio Pack. The product page does not mention a demo.

When to use it

AMT Amp Leveling is a no-frills maximizer for fast loudness and peak control. It works much like Waves L2 Ultramaximizer: push the input, set the ceiling and the recovery, and you are done. Compared with Pro-L 2 or the Ozone 12 Maximizer it has no choice of limiting styles, no true-peak mode and no loudness metering, so it is a weaker pick for final mastering to streaming targets. It is also much simpler than TDR Limiter 6 GE, which adds several processing stages and detailed metering. Its strengths are the low price, light CPU use and a quick workflow on buses, stems or live sources.

Best for: quick loudness on demos and rough masters, safety limiting on buses and stems, and low-latency peak control live.
Genres: general-purpose.
Look elsewhere if: you need true-peak limiting, loudness metering or several limiter characters; Pro-L 2 or Ozone 12 Maximizer has them.

What producers say

There are no magazine reviews of version 2; the older user reviews like its simplicity but don't see it as a serious mastering tool.

Audiofanzine users (two reviews, 2010 and 2014, of the original version) praised the easy interface with "not much of a learning curve" and a rich sound.
Criticisms: one reviewer said it doesn't sound like real analog gear and suited demos and rough mastering better than professional mastering.
