Band
by Noisebud · EQ · Selective-cancellation band enhancer
Not rated yet
Band is a Noisebud frequency-band processor that boosts a range without boosting its dominant or problem components, using FFT analysis and selective cancellation.
Negative gain works as pure selective cancellation and an inverse mode brings out the isolated parts; it costs $30 or comes with a $6 Patreon membership.
Best for: Mastering, Mix Bus, Vocals, Keys & Synths. Genres: all genres.
Keywords: bus processing, auto-gain, enhancement, full mix, minimum-phase, mastering, mix bus, mixing, static, vocals, wide.
What it does
Band is a frequency-selective processor that lets you "boost a frequency band without boosting the dominant or potentially problematic components." It combines FFT analysis, selective cancellation and a conventional minimum-phase EQ.
- Analysis and cancellation: FFT analysis finds the dominant components inside the chosen range and cancels them by phase inversion.
- Positive gain: after cancellation, a minimum-phase EQ boosts the band, so the range gets louder without its loudest parts jumping out.
- Negative gain: works as a pure selective cancellation processor, attenuating only.
- Inverse mode: reinforces the isolated components instead of cancelling them, for creative emphasis.
- Band controls: Gain from -6 to +6 dB, Frequency to pick the target and Width/Q to set its range.
- Monitoring: Loudness Match for level compensation, Delta to hear the removed content, and Bypass.
The current version is 1.0. It is sold separately or included in Noisebud's Patreon membership.
When to use it
Band does one job: lifting a range while cancelling the dominant content in it, so a boost does not also raise resonances. Compared with Pro-Q 4 and TDR Nova it is far less flexible, with one band, a ±6 dB range and no full parametric layout, but a normal boost on those lifts the resonant parts along with everything else. Unlike bloom, which shapes tone adaptively across the whole spectrum, Band works on a single range you choose. Its Delta and Loudness Match controls make it easy to check what it is doing at matched level.
- Best for: lifting a frequency range on a master or bus without making resonances louder.
- Genres: any.
- Look elsewhere if: you need a full parametric or dynamic EQ (Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova) or broad adaptive tone shaping (bloom).
