What it does

Rule Tec EQ5M is NoiseAsh's circuit model of a vintage passive midrange equalizer in the style of the Pultec MEQ-5, described as a "mid-range focused classic mixing and mastering equalizer". It also includes the F3C filter unit, so one plugin gives you midrange shaping and band-limiting.

The current version is 1.8.8. The demo is fully functional with no time limit but mutes briefly every 30 seconds.

When to use it

Rule Tec EQ5M is the low-cost pick for a vintage tube midrange EQ on its own. Compared with the UA Pultec Passive EQ Collection and Waves PuigTec EQs, which bundle a midrange unit with the EQP-1A shelving EQ, it gives you only the midrange and filter units, at a much lower sale price. Compared with Pro-Q 4 or TDR Nova, it offers a few broad, coloured moves instead of precise bands. Within NoiseAsh's range, Rule Tec Heritage Pro adds the EQ1A shelving model and costs more.
