What it does

NEED 533 EQ is a five-band British-style console EQ from NoiseAsh. Its idea is a "Gain-Q-Frequency interaction engine", so the bands affect each other the way an analog circuit does, aiming for warm, musical tone rather than harsh or muddy boosts.

The product page lists version 1.5.0. The demo is fully functional with no time limit but mutes the output briefly every 30 seconds.

When to use it

NEED 533 EQ is the pick when you want parametric-style freedom with some analog colour. Compared with Pro-Q 4 and TDR Nova, it has no spectrum analyser, dynamic bands or surgical precision, but its interacting curves add warmth that clean EQs don't. Unlike the Pultec Passive EQ Collection, which is built for broad shelves, it gives five fully variable bands for mid-range work. One forum user found it uses noticeably more CPU than PSP E27.

What producers say

Reviewers and forum users like its smooth, wide-sounding curves; CPU use is the main reservation.
