What it does
Reaktor 6 is Native Instruments' modular environment for building and running your own synths, samplers and effects.
- Blocks: rack-style modular patching, with more than 70 included instruments and a large community library.
- DSP: anti-aliased oscillators, zero-delay-feedback filters and granular engines.
- Connectivity: MIDI, OSC, CV/Gate and Ableton Link, with integration for Komplete Kontrol and Maschine.

When to use it
Reaktor is a toolkit more than a single instrument. It suits people who want to patch their own instruments or effects, or who want access to the huge library of user ensembles. If you just want a finished synth, an instrument like Serum 2, Vital or Diva is a quicker route.
- Best for: experimental sound design, custom effects and learning DSP by patching.
- Also useful as: the host for the paid Reaktor-based instruments and effects from Native Instruments (the free Reaktor Player runs them, but not the building tools).
