What it does
Fixate:Midrange is a dynamic midrange corrector from Newfangled Audio (sold through Eventide). It targets six typical problems: mud, thinness, honk, nasalness, harshness and spectral imbalance.
- One-click workflow: an Analyze and Fix mode sets up the processing, which reacts to the signal as it plays.
- Hearing-based detection: resonances are found on critical bands, with a real-time resonance meter.
- Profiles: match profiles for mastering, vocals, guitar and other sources, and custom profiles learned from reference audio.
- Controls: independent mid/side processing, per-band enable, solo and delta listening, A/B and automatic gain compensation.

When to use it
Fixate:Midrange is a specialist in the same family as oeksound soothe3, but limited to the midrange. It is aimed at the areas where mixes most often sound cluttered or boxy.
- Best for: vocals, guitars and full mixes with a congested midrange, and mastering balance checks.
- Look elsewhere if: you want to treat the full spectrum; soothe3 covers the whole range.
