What it does
IR Loader (full name IR Loader Impulse Response Tool) is a cabinet IR loader for guitar and bass that adds a power amp stage and tone-shaping tools around the IRs. The developer calls it "a powerful and complete impulse response loader" for your favourite cabinet IRs.
- Three IRs: load and blend up to three cabinet IR files, with a built-in browser for your IR library.
- Power amp: a class AB push-pull EL34 tube power amp model with three selectable negative feedback modes.
- Compressor: a custom console-style compressor with a side-chain high-pass filter.
- Bass enhancer: more than 24 dB of focused low-end boost, inspired by the Little Labs Voice Of God.
- EQ: a six-band equaliser with a real-time spectrum analyser.

When to use it
IR Loader is the cabinet and power amp stage on its own, so it suits players who run a preamp model, a Neural Amp Modeler capture or a hardware preamp and want to blend several IRs. Compared with the single IR slot in the Neural Amp Modeler plugin, it blends three IRs and adds an EL34 power amp, a compressor, a bass enhancer and a six-band EQ. Unlike full amp sims such as Archetype: Nolly X or AmpliTube 5 MAX, it has no preamp, so it does nothing on its own with a dry DI. At its sale price it costs far less than those suites, but it only replaces their cabinet section.
- Best for: loading and blending cabinet IRs after a preamp, capture or hardware amp head, and adding low-end weight to guitar or bass.
- Genres: rock and metal, and any style with recorded guitar or bass.
- Look elsewhere if: your amp sim already has an IR loader you like, or you want a complete amp in one plugin (Archetype: Nolly X, AmpliTube 5 MAX).
