What it does

Delay3000 (Delay3000 Vintage Modern Repeater) is a stereo multitap delay that draws on the Roland SDE-3000 rack delay and the Strymon Timeline pedal. It pairs a vintage analog or modern digital delay voice with modulation, filtering, ducking and saturation.

Multitap patterns: 16 stereo multitap delay patterns with adjustable repetitions, a Hold switch to sustain repeats, and DAW sync.
Two voices: a vintage analog or a modern digital delay sound.
Modulation: chorus or tremolo applied to the delay tail.
Filter: a modulated resonant low-pass filter, with modulation synced to the DAW tempo.
Ducking: a two-knob section that lowers the delay while the dry signal plays.
Grit and Smear: Grit adds body and tube saturation; Smear softens the attack of the repeats while keeping the frequency response.

The current version is 1.2.9. It is on sale, and a demo is available.

When to use it

Delay3000 is a strong pick for guitar-style rhythmic delays on a budget. Compared with UltraTap, it has fixed multitap patterns rather than free tap shaping, but adds analog or digital voices, ducking and Grit and Smear saturation. It is cheaper than EchoBoy and Timeless 3 and quicker to set up, though it has fewer echo styles than EchoBoy and far less modulation routing than Timeless 3. Next to Valhalla Delay it leans more toward rack and pedal delay tones than lush diffuse ambience.

Best for: rhythmic multitap and ducked guitar delays, stereo vocal echoes and vintage rack-delay tones.
Genres: rock, pop, ambient guitar and electronic.
Look elsewhere if: you need tape models or deep modulation routing (EchoBoy or Timeless 3), or fully editable taps (UltraTap).

What producers say

The few users who reviewed it rate it highly for sound and flexibility.

KVR users give it 5.00 out of 5 from 2 reviews. One (2022) called it "one of the most flexible and best sounding delays" and praised its vintage echo tones and the Grit and Smear controls; another (2023) said it offers many options but "remains easy to use."
Criticisms: one KVR reviewer found the documentation on the pattern controls lacking.
