What it does

BST100 V2 (BST100 V2 Super Overdrive Guitar Amplifier) is Nembrini Audio's model of the Soldano SLO100, the high-gain head introduced in 1987. The developer pitches it on "high-gain clarity and modern versatility" with rich harmonics.

Normal channel: Bright and Clean/Crunch switches, for clean through to crunch tones.
Boost channel: the USA high-gain voicing for saturated rhythm and lead.
Virtual tubes: the preamp is modelled on four 12AX7 tubes.
Filters: Tight cuts low end (aimed at 7- and 8-string guitars), Rumbling trims low-frequency content and Harsh reduces high-frequency content.
Noise gate: threshold, range and gate speed controls.
Cabinets and mics: eight cabinet models and four microphone models, with on/off-axis choice and distance and position controls, mixed with solo, mute, pan and faders.
IR loader: up to three third-party impulse responses, blended with volume, pan, phase, solo and mute.

When to use it

BST100 V2 is for players who want the SLO100 sound in particular, as one dedicated amp rather than a suite. Compared with Archetype: Gojira X or Nolly X it has no pedals, EQs or effects, and it costs several times more than Nembrini's other single amps such as Cali Dual or BG Extasy. Next to Nembrini's BG Extasy it is the more straight-ahead high-gain model, with two channels and filters aimed at extended-range guitars. Unlike AmpliTube 5 MAX or Helix Stadium Native, it gives you one amp in depth rather than a library to choose from.

Best for: classic rock and metal rhythm, smooth Soldano-style leads, and clean or crunch parts from the Normal channel.
Genres: rock, hard rock, metal.
Look elsewhere if: you want effects or many amps; Archetype: Gojira X or AmpliTube 5 MAX give more for the price.
Tip: the Tight filter is there to firm up the low end of 7- and 8-string guitars.

What producers say

Little feedback exists on V2; the one KVR user review was mixed, liking the cleaner sounds more than the high-gain channel.

KVR users rate it 3 out of 5 from 1 review (2020, V2 on Windows): the clean channel and Crunch voicing sound excellent, but the Boost channel lacks the Soldano's midrange punch.
Criticisms: the same reviewer found treble and presence "too sharp, too thin and shrill" from medium settings up, and dull when turned down; changing cabinets helped only a little.
