What it does
Blue Clipper models the clipping of the Lavry Blue 4496 converter, aiming to capture "the character of its saturation and clipping behavior." It is built to add density, control peaks and raise perceived loudness while keeping the sound focused.
- Analog saturation: gently softens transient peaks before they reach the clipper, adding density and level control while keeping the sound natural.
- Digital saturation: drives the signal into a stronger saturation curve for more harmonic colour, firmness and perceived loudness.
- Converter-style clipping: the clip stage itself, modelled on the hardware converter, catches peaks so the track can be pushed louder.
- Uses: the developer pitches it at drums, bass, vocals and full mixes.
- Independent product: Nembrini notes it is not affiliated with Lavry Engineering.
The current version is 1.0.1. It is on sale and is also part of Nembrini's Full Access subscription. The product page does not mention a demo.

When to use it
Blue Clipper models one converter's clipping and gives you a single choice between two saturation modes, so it is quick to set and hard to get wrong. Compared with StandardCLIP and KClip 3, it has far fewer clip shapes, and its product page lists none of the detailed metering or oversampling options they offer, so it suits engineers who want that converter character without tweaking. Unlike Free Clip 2, it costs money, but it adds a modelled hardware sound rather than plain clip curves.
- Best for: drum bus and mix bus peak control, and loudness for beats.
- Genres: hip-hop, electronic, pop and rock.
- Look elsewhere if: you want many clip curves and detailed metering (StandardCLIP or KClip 3) or a free tool (Free Clip 2).
