What it does

Analog Rack Delay is a free, modelled analog delay from Nembrini Audio, built around the developer's delay algorithms "in a simple package" with a tube preamp for colour. It is aimed at guitarists first but works on vocals and other sources.

Delay time: set freely or synced to the host tempo with BPM sync.
Feedback and mix: set how long the repeats ring and how much of the delay sits against the dry signal.
Offset (stereo spread): a stereo spread circuit that offsets the repeats across the left and right sides.
Tube preamp: a custom virtual tube circuit that adds colour to the signal.
Part of a set: one of the free Analog Rack effects, with Analog Rack Chorus, Cleaner and Noise Gate.

When to use it

Analog Rack Delay is a good free choice when you want a warm, synced stereo echo with only a few knobs. Compared with EchoBoy or Valhalla Delay, it has a single delay type with no tape, multitap or modulation modes, but it costs nothing and is quicker to set. Next to H-Delay it is simpler still, with no filters, LFO or ping-pong options listed. The Offset control is the main extra, widening the repeats without needing a separate stereo tool.

Best for: simple synced echoes on guitar, vocals and keys, and quick stereo slapback.
Genres: any, especially rock, pop and singer-songwriter.
Look elsewhere if: you want tape, multitap or modulated delay styles; EchoBoy, Valhalla Delay or Nembrini's own Delay3000 go much further.
Tip: Production Expert found the Offset control "addictive"; use it to spread repeats wide while the dry signal stays centred.
