What it does
Amped ICON is ML Sound Lab's single-amp plugin for American high-gain tones, built on the developer's Vorna Amp Modeling. The developer calls it its most "cutting-edge rendition of American high gain" amps, with four channels that run from clean to very high gain.
- ICON High Gain: the main channel, voiced for the highest gain settings and modern metal rhythms.
- ICON Burn: a second high-gain voicing for heavier saturated rhythms and sustaining leads.
- ICON Overdrive: a mid-gain channel for crunch and classic hard rock.
- ICON Clean: a clean channel to cover the rest of a song without changing plugins.
- 3D cabinet simulator: two cabinets, EDVH and Mega Djent, with four microphone options. Each mic moves from the centre to the edge of the speaker, front or back, and can be angled.
- IR loader: load your own impulse responses in place of the built-in cabs.
- Pedalboard: six pedals in a fixed chain: Noise Gate, Compressor, Drive Pedal, Chorus, Analog Delay and Reverb, so a full rig needs no extra plugins.
- Tuner and standalone: a built-in guitar tuner and a stage-ready standalone app that can be controlled over MIDI.

When to use it
Amped ICON is the pick when you want one American high-gain head modelled in depth at a low price. Compared with Archetype: Gojira X or Archetype: Nolly X, it has a single amp with four channels and a smaller pedal set, but costs less and is quicker to dial in. Unlike TONEX MAX or Neural Amp Modeler, it is a full modelled amp with its own 3D cab and mic placement rather than a player for captured tones. Compared with AmpliTube 5 MAX or Guitar Rig 7 Pro it covers far less ground, so it suits players who already know they want this one sound.
- Best for: modern high-gain rhythm guitars, tight palm-muted riffs and saturated leads, with the Clean and Overdrive channels for quieter parts.
- Genres: metal, hard rock and modern rock.
- Look elsewhere if: you want vintage British crunch (Amped Pink Sabbath) or many amps in one plugin (AmpliTube 5 MAX or Guitar Rig 7 Pro).
