What it does
The Jason Richardson plugin is MixWave's signature suite for the progressive metal guitarist. It was built alongside the recording of his album II, and MixWave says the final tones on the album came "entirely from the plugin prototype".
- Clean amp: ranges from glassy clean tones to the edge of breakup.
- Rhythm amp: a full, deep high-gain voice for heavy rhythm parts.
- Lead amp: saturated but smooth, voiced to cut through dense mixes.
- Pedals: an overdrive modeled on a rare pedal, a warm delay with its own panning controls, a wide stereo chorus and a dense but clear reverb.
- Cabinets: three cabinets, three speakers and 18 microphone options, plus a large impulse response library.
- Workflow: a rearrangeable signal chain, an EQ and compressor that can go before or after the amp, transpose, and Focus and Contour controls for fitting the tone into a mix.

When to use it
The Jason Richardson plugin is the pick for players chasing his technical, progressive metal sound, with separate clean, rhythm and lead amps tuned for that one style. Compared with Archetype: Nolly X or Archetype: Gojira X, it is also an artist suite for modern metal, but with a chorus, panning delay and a dedicated clean amp it leans more toward his polished leads and clean passages. Against TONEX MAX or AmpliTube 5 MAX it offers far fewer amps and pedals, in exchange for a focused set of finished tones. Outside metal it is far less flexible than either.
- Best for: progressive and technical metal rhythm, lead and clean guitar.

- Look elsewhere if: you play blues, vintage rock or low-gain styles, or want many amps in one plugin; AmpliTube 5 MAX or TONEX MAX cover more ground.
