What it does
SS-11X is Mercuriall's simulation of the AMT SS-11A and SS-11B tube preamps, built on its Neural Hybrid Engine. The developer says each tube (12AX7EH and 6N2P-EV types) is modelled independently.
- Overdrive pedals: six built-in types: TS-808, TS-808 Lower Drive Mod, TS-7 Hot, TS-7 Mod, an American-style pedal and Boss Super Overdrive.
- Cabinets and space: built-in cabinet IRs (from seven studios plus OwnHammer) and reverb IRs, with blending, or load your own mono/stereo IRs up to 262,144 samples.
- Stereo: mono or stereo processing, with stereo channels modelled independently, useful for panned double-tracked guitars.
- Other: noise gate; quality settings from no oversampling to 8x.

When to use it
SS-11X is a standalone preamp sim, unlike the amp models that need Ampbox. It is aimed at players who want the AMT preamp sound with pedals, cabs and reverb in one plugin.
- Best for: rock and metal rhythm and lead guitar recorded direct.
- Look elsewhere if: you want a classic amp head rather than an AMT-style preamp.
