Mercuriall's amp modeling plugin and standalone app that hosts its purchasable amp models along with cabinets and effects; the host comes free with any supported amp.
Best for: Guitars, Bass. Genres: Metal, Rock & Indie.
Keywords: electric guitar, bass, undo/redo, mixing, oversampling, standalone app.
What it does
Ampbox is Mercuriall's amp modelling plugin. It works as the host for Mercuriall's amp models, and it comes free with the purchase of any supported amp.
- Engine: Mercuriall's Neural Hybrid Engine v3.0.
- Signal chain: customisable amp, preamp, power amp and cabinet sections, with microphone modelling (SM57, MD441, R121).
- Effects: noise gate, compressors, overdrives, distortions, delays, reverbs and chorus, plus a tuner.
- Extras: a preset system with undo and redo, and oversampling up to 8x.

When to use it
Ampbox is not an amp on its own: it is the shell that the paid Mercuriall models (Euphoria, Rectofire, 6160III and the rest) load into. Its models cover Fender, Marshall, EVH, Mesa/Boogie, Bogner and Engl-style amps. Compared with Guitar Rig 7 Pro or AmpliTube 5 MAX in the rated list, which bundle many amps and pedals in one purchase, Mercuriall's approach is to buy the amp you want.
- Best for: guitarists who want a specific amp sound and are happy to add models one at a time.
- Genres: rock, metal, blues and bass tones.
Where to buy
- Mercuriall: see store (Free host included with any Mercuriall amp module)
