Not rated yet

MTurboReverb is an algorithmic reverb from MeldaProduction with about 100 algorithms covering rooms, halls, plates and effect spaces.

You can also design your own reverbs from early and late reflection generators. It was $175 when checked, down from $349.

Best for: Vocals, Drums, Keys & Synths, Guitars, Mix Bus, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: algorithmic, hall, plate, room, lush, shimmer, randomize, bus processing, dreamy, drums, full mix, mid/side, mix bus, mixing, pitch-shifting, sidechain input, silky, simple, sound design, vocals, wide.

What it does

MTurboReverb offers "100 reverbs in one (and more...)." It is both a large library of ready-made algorithmic reverbs and a full environment for designing your own.

About 100 algorithms: rooms, halls, plates, ethereal and shimmering spaces, and 2D positioning reverbs, switched with one click.
Early reflections: 4 graphically editable early reflection generators.
Late reflections: 6 late reflection generators, programmed with a simple language where each algorithm takes a single line.
Feedback design: complex feedback structures with modulation effects, pitch shifters and saturators.
Shaping: predelay, stereo width, a 5-band parametric EQ, mid-side processing, modulators, and a dynamics section and side-chain high-pass filter on each reverb.
Randomization: randomize any early or late section, use hundreds of section presets, or let the algorithm generator create new reverbs.

It has been sold at half price during MeldaProduction sales. MTurboReverbLE gives the 100 reverbs without the design tools, and a multiband MTurboReverbMB also exists. A free trial is available.

When to use it

MTurboReverb suits people who want many reverb types in one plugin and like to build and tweak their own. Compared with VintageVerb and Seventh Heaven Professional, it trades a small set of polished, classic algorithms for a huge range and a full design environment. Compared with Pro-R 2, it has far more algorithms but a less immediate interface. It costs more than most Valhalla reverbs at full price, though the LE edition and frequent sales narrow the gap.

Best for: having rooms, halls, plates and shimmer spaces in one plugin, lush large reverbs, and designing custom algorithms.
Genres: any; especially ambient, cinematic and electronic work.
Look elsewhere if: you want a few great-sounding modes and a small interface (VintageVerb or Pro-R 2), or a faithful hardware recreation (Seventh Heaven, LX480).
Tip: MusicTech suggests short reverbs with a longer predelay to create a "reverb delay".

What producers say

MusicTech rated it excellent for its lush sound and deep programmability, with the complex Edit screen as the main caveat.

MusicTech (Marc JB, 2017) gave it an Excellence award, praising the "silky shine" of large reverbs, the range of presets and that everything down to the algorithm is programmable.
Criticisms: the Edit screen is "not for the faint hearted", and some presets produced odd frequency artefacts when moving the 2D positioning live.
