What it does

MRingModulatorMB is MeldaProduction's "extremely advanced 6 bands ring-modulation effect." Each band gets its own oscillators, so you can ring-modulate only part of the spectrum; the developer points it at non-harmonic material such as drums, though it works on anything.

6 bands: independent ring modulation per band, with linear-phase or analog crossovers of adjustable slope.
Other split modes: besides frequency, bands can be split by level, panorama, mid/side, transients, tonal versus noise content, or in parallel.
Two oscillators per band: predefined or custom waveforms, a harmonic mode, a step-sequencer option and algorithmic post-processing, with host tempo sync.
4 modulators: each can be an LFO, level follower, ADSR envelope, randomizer, pitch detector or a mix of these, so the effect can move with the music.
Two interfaces: an Easy Screen for quick results and an Edit Screen for full control.
Engine: adjustable 1x to 1024x upsampling, automatic gain compensation, a safety limiter, mono/stereo/M/S, surround up to 8 channels and ambisonics up to 64.

When to use it

MRingModulatorMB is the better pick when ring modulation needs to be targeted: you can keep the low end clean while the top goes metallic, or ring-modulate only the transients of a drum loop. Compared with ShaperBox 3 and Portal it covers far fewer effect types, but it goes much deeper on this one, with band-split modes and per-band oscillators. Against the free MRingModulator it adds the six bands, four modulators and an easy screen. Its large Melda-style interface takes more learning than a one-page effect.

Best for: frequency- or transient-specific metallic effects on drums, synths and vocals, and evolving inharmonic textures.
Genres: electronic, experimental, industrial and cinematic sound design.
Look elsewhere if: you only need a simple ring modulator (the free MRingModulator does it) or a broad set of movement effects in one place (ShaperBox 3 or Portal).
