What it does
MRingModulator is MeldaProduction's free "classic two oscillators ring-modulation effect." It multiplies your audio with one or two oscillators for metallic, bell-like and robotic tones, behind a clean interface that still opens up to deeper controls.
- One or two oscillators: classic ring modulation from a single oscillator, or from a pair for denser, more complex sidebands.
- Phase difference: offset the oscillator phase between channels for stereo movement.
- Oscillator shape: pick a predefined shape or draw a custom waveform; a harmonic mode, a step-sequencer option and algorithmic post-processing reshape it further.
- Safety and level: automatic gain compensation and a brickwall safety limiter that keeps the output under 0 dB.
- Presets and comparison: A-H slots to compare eight settings, A-D morphing between four presets, smart randomization with parameter locking, and a global preset database with online exchange.
- Channels and control: mono, stereo, M/S, up to 8-channel surround and 64-channel ambisonics; MIDI learn and multiparameters.
- Interface: a stylable, freely resizable, GPU-accelerated GUI with HDPI/Retina support.
MRingModulator is free and comes with MeldaProduction's MFreeFXBundle; KVR also lists a paid bundle option. Updates are free for life. A multiband version, MRingModulatorMB, is listed separately.

When to use it
MRingModulator is the pick when you want plain ring modulation, quickly and for free. Unlike ShaperBox 3, Portal or UberMod, which spread across many movement and modulation effects, it does one classic job and gives you detailed control over the oscillator waveform. Compared with MRingModulatorMB it has no band splitting and no built-in modulators, so the whole signal turns metallic at once. It is a good first stop before paying for anything bigger.
- Best for: robot voices, metallic textures, bell-like tones and inharmonic synth and drum sounds.
- Genres: electronic, experimental and cinematic sound design.
- Look elsewhere if: you want ring modulation on only part of the spectrum or with moving parameters; MRingModulatorMB does that. For a broader movement toolbox, ShaperBox 3 or Portal go further.
