MReverb by MeldaProduction

MReverb is an algorithmic reverb from MeldaProduction with spatial positioning, a built-in EQ and gate, and four modulators.

It covers realistic halls as well as creative effects. It costs $44.

Best for: Vocals, Drums, Keys & Synths, Guitars, Sound Design. Genres: all genres.

Keywords: algorithmic, room, hall, sound design, randomize, creative, mixing, analog-sounding, auto-gain, drums, extreme, gated, multi-band, orchestra, resizable UI, tube, vintage, vocals.

What it does

MReverb is MeldaProduction's algorithmic true-stereo reverb, which promises "extremely realistic halls and unbelievable effects". Instead of separate plate, hall and room algorithms, it uses one engine with a large set of parameters, plus a positioning system that places the source in the virtual room.

A free trial is available. It has 64-bit processing at any sample rate, and MeldaProduction promises free updates for life. A multiband version, MReverbMB, and the larger MTurboReverb are listed separately.

When to use it

MReverb is the pick for users who want to build a space from parameters and place a source inside it, rather than choose from a menu of reverb types. Compared with Valhalla VintageVerb, it has no set of named modes or era colours, and it costs slightly less. Compared with FabFilter Pro-R 2, it offers deeper modulation, a gate and a randomizer, which suit sound design as much as mixing. Valhalla Room is the closer like-for-like if you just want natural rooms with fewer controls to think about.

What producers say

There is little user feedback online; what exists calls it an underrated reverb.
